The Department of Statistics started its academic journey from the sesseion 2015-2016. At the beggining of its launching, this department was affiliated with the National University. Now the department is affiliated with the University of Dhaka. Mr. Quazi Faizur Rahman, An associate professor of BCS(General education) cadre, is the head of the department from its starting. At present 3 faculty members are working in this department.

Statistics is a research based market oriented discipline. The graduates are meeting up the demand of corporate level as well as the public organizations.The Department of Statistics helps students acquire the conceptual, computational, and mathematical tools for quantifying uncertainty and making sense of complex data arising from many applications.
